Are Screens Taking Over Childhood?

Updated: Jul 9

Technology shapes how kids’ brains grow. Studies show that excessive screen time rewires the brain, making it crave instant rewards, which weakens focus and problem-solving skills (NIH). On average, kids spend 7+ hours daily on screens, often replacing activities that promote learning and social skills (Common Sense Media). Overuse of screens has been linked to lower memory and thinking abilities in children. To build a strong brain, balance is key: limit screen time to 1-2 hours daily (AAP) and spend more time outdoors or engaging in creative play. Real-world activities are essential for healthy brain development.
